What is Nikko Toshogu Shrine?
Nikko’s shrines and temples are a world heritage site that represents Japan. The most famous of these, Nikko Toshogu, is the shrine where Tokugawa Ieyasu is enshrined, and most of the current shrine buildings were rebuilt in the Kan’ei 13th year by the third shogun, Iemitsu, during the Kan’ei Great Reconstruction. There are 55 buildings in the precincts, including 8 national treasures and 34 important cultural properties, and their gorgeous beauty is overwhelming. Master craftsmen from all over the country have painted the building with lacquer and rich colors, and the pillars are decorated with numerous carvings.「http://www.nikko-kankou.org/spot/2/」から引用
