[Scenic Touring Spot] [Yamanashi Prefecture] Bike trip to Arakurayama Sengen Park! A solo trip on a Harley to enjoy the spectacular views of Mt. Fuji and the five-storied pagoda

Hello, this is _hiroyuki.ta.
This time, I would like to introduce Arakurayama Sengen Park, which I toured by motorcycle from central Tokyo.
Arakurayama Sengen Park is a famous spot for its beautiful collaboration of Mt. Fuji and a five-storied pagoda.
In spring, cherry blossoms bloom and you can enjoy the iconic scenery of Japan.
I went out on my favorite Harley-Davidson FLSB Sport Glide, and I was able to ride comfortably while looking at Mt. Fuji along the way.
Now, let me tell you about the touring to Arakurayama Sengen Park.

Arakurayama Sengen Park is a park in Fujiyoshida City, Yamanashi Prefecture, located halfway up Mt. Arakurayama.
Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine is located within the park, and is said to bring blessings for safe childbirth, fertility, child rearing, family harmony, and protection from disasters.
Also, at the top of the 398 steps is a five-storied pagoda called Chureito.
The view of Mt. Fuji from this five-storied pagoda is so spectacular that it was even featured on the cover of the Michelin Green Guide Japan.
The contrast between Mt. Fuji and the five-storied pagoda, which changes with the seasons, is stunning and attracts many tourists and photographers.

Route to Arakurayama Sengen Park

went on a motorcycle tour from central Tokyo to Arakurayama Sengen Park.
It took about an hour and a half.
The route is shown below.

  • Enter the Metropolitan Expressway Central Loop Line/C1 in Chiyoda Ward from Suitengu Street and Tokiwabashi
  • Transfer to Shuto Expressway No. 4 Shinjuku Line/Route 4 at Miyakezaka JCT
  • Enter the Chuo Expressway and transfer to the Fujiyoshida Line/Kawaguchiko Line at Otsuki JCT.
  • Exit the Chuo Expressway/Fujiyoshida Line/Kawaguchiko Line at Fujiyoshida Nishikatsura Smart IC
  • Proceed along National Route 139 to your destination

This route uses many expressways such as the Shuto Expressway and the Chuo Expressway.
This will cost you more, but it will save you time.
Also, the view of Mt. Fuji from the expressway is wonderful.
I photographed Mt. Fuji many times along the way.

Highlights of Arakurayama Sengen Park

The highlight of Arakurayama Sengen Park is the spectacular view of Mt. Fuji and the five-storied pagoda.
However, to see the spectacular view, you have to climb 398 steps.
The stairs are quite tough, but the feeling when you reach the top is special.
Even though I was out of breath, I was encouraged by the view of Mt. Fuji from halfway up the stairs.
At the top of the stairs, there is an observation deck.
The view of Mt. Fuji and the five-storied pagoda from here is spectacular.
You will be overwhelmed by the size and beauty of Mt. Fuji.
The five-storied pagoda is also stately, and the harmony with Mt. Fuji is wonderful.
I took many photos of this view.

At Arakurayama Sengen Park, cherry blossoms bloom in spring, creating an even more beautiful view.
During the cherry blossom season, the Arakurayama Sengen Park Cherry Blossom Festival is held, with stage events and food and beverage sales booths offering local gourmet food.
The collaboration of cherry blossoms, Mt. Fuji, and a five-storied pagoda is a symbolic sight of Japan, and it is crowded with many people.
Unfortunately I wasn’t able to go during the cherry blossom season, but I would definitely like to see the cherry blossoms next time.

Arakurayama Sengen Park motorcycle parking lot

Arakurayama Sengen Park has a free motorcycle parking lot.
The parking lot is located a little far from the park entrance, but you can get there in about 5 minutes on foot.
The parking lot is open 24 hours a day, but please be careful not to disturb nearby residents.
Also, during the cherry blossom festival period, there is a parking fee (500 yen for motorbikes).
You can drive from the parking lot to Chureito Pagoda, but we do not recommend it because the road is very narrow and it is difficult to pass each other, and there are only a few parking spaces.
