Lake Haruna is a caldera lake at an altitude of 1,100 meters located in Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture.
A caldera lake is a lake filled with water left after a volcano erupted and collapsed, and is the second highest lake in Japan after Lake Chuzenji.
Lake Haruna has a circumference of approximately 4.8 kilometers, and its deepest point is approximately 15 meters.
There are facilities such as sightseeing boats, boats, and an auto campsite on the lakeside, which families and couples can enjoy.
Additionally, Mt. Haruna is one of the three Jomo mountains, and is popular for mountain climbing and hiking.
There are also attractions such as Haruna Shrine and Haruna Fuji.

Route to Lake Haruna

This time, I went from central Tokyo to Lake Haruna via the Metropolitan Expressway No. 5 Ikebukuro Line and the Kanetsu Expressway.
The Shuto Expressway No. 5 Ikebukuro Line has a lot of traffic, so I left early in the morning.
On the Kanetsu Expressway, we drove fast while admiring the mountains of northern Kanto, such as Mt. Akagi and Mt. Myogi.
I got off at the Shibukawa-Ikaho Interchange and passed through National Route 17 and Prefectural Route 33.
This section has many wide roads such as the Shibukawa West Bypass and Altenado, making it bike-friendly.
On the way, I stopped by Haruna Shrine and paid a visit.
Although it is necessary to walk a little to reach the shrine, the approach path built within the valley offers a spectacular view.
The head office has a gorgeous vermilion color and a sense of history.

When we arrived at Lake Haruna, we first parked our bikes at the parking lot and took a walk around the lake.
With clear skies and no wind, the lake is so calm that you can easily lose track of time.
We saw many families enjoying leisure activities along the lakeside.
I also took a pleasure boat and looked at it from the lake.
Haruna Fuji, which can be seen from a sightseeing boat, is a beautiful mountain whose scenery changes with the seasons.
Especially in autumn, the leaves turn bright red.
You can also see snowy scenery in winter.

There are several motorcycle parking lots around Lake Haruna.
The place I used was a place near Haruna Shrine that was open for free.
There were less than 10 cars, but there were spaces available.
There are also paid motorcycle parking lots at the pleasure boat terminal and auto campground on the shores of Lake Haruna.
