What is Lake Tanuki?
Lake Tanuki is an artificial lake located in Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Located to the east of Mt. Fuji, you can see the majestic view of Mt. Fuji from the lakeside.
Route to Lake Tanuki
It takes about 2 hours to reach Lake Tanuki from central Tokyo via the Tomei Expressway and National Route 1.
The specific route is as follows.
- From central Tokyo to Nagoya on the Tomei Expressway
- Get off at the Shizuoka Interchange on the Tomei Expressway
- Take National Route 1 towards Fujinomiya
- To Lake Tanuki
Highlights of Lake Tanuki
The highlights of Lake Tanuki can be broadly divided into the following three types.
Spectacular View of Mt. Fuji
Lake Tanuki is located to the east of Mt. Fuji, so you can see the magnificent sight of Mt. Fuji from the lakeside. The views from the tops of Mt. Fuji, such as the 5th and 3rd stations, are spectacular, but the view of Mt. Fuji from Lake Tanuki is also special.
Lakeside Nature
Flowers such as cherry blossoms and azaleas are in full bloom along the shores of Lake Tanuki, and you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of each season. There are also promenades and cycling courses along the lakeside, so we recommend enjoying a walk or cycling in nature.

At Lake Tanuki, you can enjoy activities such as boating, canoeing, and fishing. There is also a campsite by the lake, so it is recommended that you enjoy camping in nature.
Motorcycle parking lot at Lake Tanuki
Lake Tanuki has one motorcycle parking lot available for visitors. Campers can also use the campsite’s parking lot.
Lake Tanuki Parking
This is a parking lot right next to Lake Tanuki. It can accommodate approximately 50 vehicles and is free of charge.
