[Kanto day trip] [Kanagawa Prefecture] Motorcycle trip to Soleil Hill! A journey through nature, animals, and agricultural experiences

Hello, this is _hiroyuki.ta. This time, we will be introducing a touring trip from central Tokyo to Soleil Hill, a comprehensive agricultural experience park located in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture.

My favorite car is Harley Sports Glide (FLSB). This is a bike with versatile performance, including an inverted fork, detachable fairing, and saddlebag.

Soleil Hill is a spot where you can interact with seasonal flowers and animals, enjoy play equipment, eat and drink, camp, and more while admiring spectacular views of Sagami Bay, Izu Oshima, and Mt. Fuji. This time, we will tell you in detail how to get to Soleil Hill, what to see, and where to park your bike.

Soleil no Oka, officially called Nagai Uminote Park Soleil no Oka, is a park located in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture. Soleil means sun in French, and there are sun-themed objects and facilities within the park. The park is approximately 50 hectares in area and includes an agricultural experience area, a flower garden area, a playground area, and a camping area. There are also restaurants and souvenir shops within the park where you can enjoy eating while walking. Soleil no Oka can be described as a complex entertainment park where you can enjoy various ways while interacting with nature.

Route to Soleil Hill

I rode my bike from central Tokyo to Soleil Hill. The route looks like this:

  • Take the Shuto Expressway Wangan Line towards Haneda Airport
  • Enter the Keikyu Expressway from the Wangan Line and head towards Yokohama.
  • Enter Yokohama-Yokosuka Road from Keikyu Road and head towards Yokosuka.
  • From Yokohama Yokosuka Road, exit onto National Route 16 and head toward Miura Peninsula.
  • From National Route 16, take Prefectural Route 24 and head towards Nagai Coast.
  • Enter Prefectural Route 23 from Prefectural Route 24 and head toward Soleil Hill.

This route allows you to save time by using expressways such as the Shuto Expressway and the Keikyu Expressway. However, be aware of toll fees and traffic jams. Also, although the scenery along the coast of the Miura Peninsula is beautiful, there are many curves and hills, so please drive safely. This route took me about 2 and a half hours.

Highlights of Soleil Hill

There are many things to see at Soleil Hill. There are three things I particularly recommend:

[ Experience farm ]
At Soleil Hill, you can experience harvesting a variety of vegetables and fruits depending on the season. When I went there, we were able to harvest summer vegetables such as eggplants, green peppers, and okra. You can eat the harvested vegetables on the spot or take them home. You can also try your hand at cooking such as barbecuing and making pizza. Food tastes better when you eat food that you have grown or harvested yourself.

[ Garden of the wind ]
The Wind Garden is a flower garden area located at the highest point of the park. Here, colorful flowers bloom every season, including tulips and poppies in the spring, sunflowers and cosmos in the summer, and dahlias and salvias in the fall. While strolling through the flower gardens or taking a break while sitting on a bench, you can enjoy spectacular views of Sagami Bay, Izu Oshima, Mt. Fuji, and more. The contrast between the flowers swaying in the wind, the blue sky, and the sea is very beautiful.

[ Zip line ]
The zip line is an attraction that launches from a large athletic platform approximately 15 meters high in the park. Riding on a harness connected to a wire, you can glide about 200 meters in about 40 seconds. Along the way, you can get a bird’s-eye view of various views and landscapes in the park. Recommended for those who want to enjoy the sense of speed and height.

Soleil Hill motorcycle parking lot

There is a parking lot exclusively for motorcycles at Soleil Hill. From the main entrance of the park, go to the left and you will see a sign for the motorcycle parking lot. If you turn there and go a little further, you will find a motorcycle parking lot. Motorcycle parking is available free of charge, but the number of spaces is limited. Also, the entrance to the park is a little far from the motorcycle parking lot, so please be careful about the distance you walk.
