Hello, this is _hiroyuki.ta.
This time, I toured from a friend’s house in Ageo City, Saitama Prefecture to Nasu Senbonmatsu Ranch in Tochigi Prefecture on his favorite Harley-Davidson FLSB Sport Glide.
Tochigi Prefecture is home to some of Japan’s leading tourist destinations, such as Nikko and Nasu, and is a touring spot filled with scenic natural scenery.
This time, I chose Nasu Senbonmatsu Farm as my destination. Nasu Senbonmatsu Farm is a farm where you can enjoy rich nature, history, and carefully selected dairy products, with free admission and free parking. On this tour, I was able to fully experience its charm.
From Ageo City, Saitama Prefecture via Ken-O Expressway/Tohoku Expressway to Nishinasuno-Shiobara IC
The starting point is a friend’s house in Ageo City, Saitama Prefecture. From here, head north on National Route 17 and enter the Ken-o Expressway at Kano, Okegawa City. The Ken-O Expressway, also known as the Metropolitan Area Central Expressway, is a convenient expressway that connects various parts of the Kanto region.
Transfer from the Ken-O Expressway to the Tohoku Expressway at Kuki Shiraoka JCT. The Tohoku Expressway is Japan’s first expressway, connecting approximately 700km from Tokyo to Aomori.
After driving about 120km on the Tohoku Expressway, you will arrive at Nishinasuno-Shiobara IC. At this point, exit the expressway and enter National Route 400.
From National Route 400 to Nasu Senbonmatsu Farm
As you enter National Route 400 from Nishinasuno-Shiobara IC, you will immediately see your destination, Nasu Senbonmatsu Farm. National Route 400 is a tourist road that connects Shiobara Onsen Village and Kinugawa Onsen Village, and is also known as the Nichio Momiji Line. The Nichio Momiji Line is a winding road where you can enjoy touring while enjoying the scenery of quiet forests and valleys. It is also known as a famous spot for viewing the autumn leaves. This time we arrived at Nasu Senbonmatsu Farm, located at the entrance of the Nichio Momiji Line.
Nasu Senbonmatsu Farm is a farm that raises about 500 dairy cows on a vast site the size of 178 Tokyo Domes. The farm sells dairy products made with fresh, high-quality raw milk from dairy cows raised in good health using grass grown with homemade compost and non-genetically modified feed. Dairy products such as milk, yogurt, ice cream, and butter can be purchased at the Senbonmatsu Farm shop. You can also order by mail order, such as the Internet, telephone, or fax⁴.
At Nasu Senbonmatsu Farm, admission and parking are free, and you can feel the rich nature and history. The farm has activities such as an animal interaction plaza and cycling and horseback riding experiences. You can also use Senbonmatsu Onsen and the free footbath. Nasu Senbonmatsu Ranch is a touring spot that can be enjoyed in a variety of situations, including families, couples, and friends.
Nasu Senbonmatsu Farm
When I arrived at Nasu Senbonmatsu Farm, I parked my bike in the parking lot.
The parking lot at Nasu Senbonmatsu Farm is free and can accommodate 1,200 regular cars and 20 large buses.
There is no dedicated parking lot for motorcycles, but you can park your motorcycle in a parking space reserved for regular cars.
However, please be careful of your distance from other vehicles during busy times. You will also need to carry your luggage with you or leave it on your bike.
When you walk towards the entrance from the parking lot, the first thing you’ll see is the farm shop.
The farm shop sells souvenirs such as Nasu Senbonmatsu Farm’s proud dairy products, jams, and meat products. Here, raw milk jam “Dolce de Leche” and the Nasu Saraributa series are sold. Dulce de leche is a milk jam made by hand-simmering pasteurized milk for over 4 hours, and can be poured on bread or yogurt, or eaten as is.
The “Nasu Sarari Pork Series” is bacon and sausage made with pork from the Nasu Highlands.
