Kirigamine is one of Japan’s 100 famous mountains, and is a place with beautiful plateau scenery and alpine plants. I set off from central Tokyo by motorbike and arrived at Kirigamine after about 4 and a half hours. In this article, we will introduce the route to Kirigamine, highlights, motorcycle parking, etc.
Kirigamine is a volcano located in the center of Yatsugatake Chushin Kogen Quasi-National Park. The highest peak is Kurumayama, which has an altitude of 1925 meters. In addition to Kurumayama, Kirigamine includes Kita no Mimi, Minami Mimi, Choucho Miyama, Tonoshiroyama, and Ozasamine. It is made up of several mountains. Kirigamine has a cool and refreshing climate in the summer, and colorful flowers bloom in abundance. You can enjoy the beautiful autumn leaves in autumn and the snowy scenery in winter. In spring, the fresh greenery is a sight to behold. It is a place where you can enjoy nature in all four seasons.
From Kirigamine Interchange, there are sights such as Kurumayama Plateau and Yashima Wetland. I visited Kurumayama Highland and Yashima Wetland.
Kurumayama Highland
Kurumayama Plateau is a plateau that spreads out at the foot of Mt. Kurumayama, the highest peak of Kirigamine. Here, you can see fields of alpine plants in the summer, and beautiful autumn leaves in the fall. Since I visited in the summer, I was able to see flowers such as day lily and Japanese lily. The colors and shapes of the flowers were very beautiful. Kurumayama Highland is equipped with walking trails and observation decks. I walked along the promenade and looked at the surrounding scenery from the observation deck. From the observation deck, we could see mountains such as Mt. Yatsugatake and the Southern Alps, as well as lakes such as Lake Suwa. The air was clear and it was very refreshing.
Yashima wetland
Yashima Wetland is a wetland located in the northeastern part of Kirigamine. Here you can see plants and animals that live near water and wetlands. I walked along the wooden path and observed the state of the wetland. From the wooden path, we could see aquatic plants such as skunk cabbage and water lily, and aquatic animals such as frogs and dragonflies. The water in the marsh was very clean. Yashima Wetland also has an observation deck and a rest area. I looked out over the entire wetland from the observation deck. From the observation deck, we could see mountains such as Yatsugatake and the Southern Alps in addition to the wetlands. The contrast between the wetlands and the mountains was very beautiful.

There are several motorcycle parking lots in Kirigamine. I used a motorcycle parking lot near Kurumayama Kogen and Yashima Wetland. Below is information about the bike parking lot.
