What is Mt. Rakanji?

Mt. Rakanji is a mountain with an altitude of 1,351m located in Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture.

Mt. Rakanji is located in the northern part of the Kofu Basin and is known as a scenic spot that offers a panoramic view of the Kofu Basin. Also, at the top of the mountain is a temple called Rakan-ji, which was built during the Edo period.

Route to Mt. Rakanji

Rakanji Mountain is conveniently accessed by car or motorcycle.

If you are driving, get off the Chuo Expressway at Kofu IC and take National Route 140 towards Kofu city. After that, transfer from National Route 140 to Yamanashi Prefectural Route 105 and get off at “Rakanji Yamaguchi”, which is the entrance to Mt. Rakanji, and you will soon arrive at Mt. Rakanji.

Highlights of Mt. Rakanji

The highlight of Mt. Rakanji is its spectacular view.

From the top of the mountain, you can get a panoramic view of the Kofu Basin and see famous places such as Kofu Castle and Mt. Fuji. On a clear day, you can also see the sea of clouds spreading out at the foot of Mt. Fuji.

Also, at the top of the mountain is a temple called Rakan-ji, which was built during the Edo period. There are 108 Arhat statues enshrined at Arhat Temple, and you can see their impressive appearance.
