Hello, this is _hiroyuki.ta. This time, we will deliver a touring report to Okamoto Pier (Haraoka Pier) in Minamiboso City, Chiba Prefecture. Okamoto Pier (Haraoka Pier) is a wooden pier that is rare in Japan, and is an Instagram-worthy spot where you can take photos in collaboration with Mt. Fuji. I set off from central Tokyo in my beloved FLSB Sports Glide and arrived in about 3 and a half hours. Along the way, we drove along the Aqua Line and the Higashi-Kanto Expressway, then took National Route 127 along the coast to our destination. I will introduce the situation along with photos.

Next, transfer to the Shuto Expressway Wangan Line and cross the Tokyo Bay Aqua Line. This route passes through long bridges and tunnels floating on the sea, giving it an extraordinary feel.
I took a break at the Umihotaru parking area halfway along the Aqua Line. From here you can enjoy a panoramic view of the sea and sky.
After passing through the Aqua Line, proceed via National Route 409 and the Higashi-Kanto Expressway Tateyama Line to National Route 127. This route offers scenic views of the countryside and mountain ranges.
Proceed along National Route 127 to your destination in Haraoka, Tomiura Town.

Finally, head south on National Route 127 to your destination in Haraoka, Tomiura Town. This route follows the coastline and offers views of the ocean. I took a break at a roadside station and Miura Loquat Club along the way. Here you can buy Boso’s special products and gourmet food. I had a soft serve ice cream made with Boshu loquat. It had a sweet, sour, and refreshing taste.
Okamoto Pier (Haraoka Pier)
We finally arrived at our destination, Okamoto Pier (Haraoka Pier). This pier is a wooden pier that was used as a fishing port during the Taisho era, and has a total length of about 100 meters. Currently, it is a popular tourist spot and has been used as a filming location for movies and TV dramas. The contrast between the pier and the sunset was beautiful.
Okamoto Pier (Haraoka Pier) is known as a sacred place for anime, and is the setting for the movie “If You Ride the Waves.” This movie is a story of high school students who fall in love through surfing, and is based on Minamiboso City, Chiba Prefecture. You can recall a scene from a movie and feel a sense of unreality.
The tour to Okamoto Pier (Haraoka Pier) was a wonderful course where you could fully enjoy the scenic spots in Chiba Prefecture. The scenery of the sea, sky, and Mt. Fuji remained in my heart. If you go by motorcycle, please be careful as there are few parking lots. I parked at the free parking lot near the entrance of the pier, but it only fits about 15 cars, so it’s best to arrive early. Through this tour, I was able to rediscover the charm of Chiba Prefecture.
Chiba Prefecture has many Instagram-worthy touring spots. Everyone, please try touring Chiba Prefecture by bike.
Well then, it was _hiroyuki.ta. See you again in the next touring report. bye bye!
