Tsuruga Castle is a castle located in Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture.
Also known as Wakamatsu Castle, it flourished as the residence of the Aizu clan.
The five-story, six-story castle tower is considered one of Japan’s three most famous castles, and is designated as a national important cultural property.
Route to Tsuruga Castle
It takes about 2 hours from central Tokyo to Tsuruga Castle by expressway.
The starting point is from the Yaesu Exit of Tokyo Station and run along the Tomei Expressway to the Ban’etsu Expressway.
Exit the Ban’etsu Expressway at Aizuwakamatsu IC and follow National Route 49 towards Tsuruga Castle, arriving at Tsuruga Castle in about 30 minutes.
