What is Tataranuma in Gunma Prefecture?
Tataranuma is a swamp that straddles Tatebayashi City and Oura Town, Gunma Prefecture.
It is one of a group of lakes located in a low-lying wetland between the Tone River and the Watarase River, and is located relatively close to the Watarase Reservoir, which straddles Gunma, Saitama, and Tochigi.
The actual swamp part is located in Tatebayashi City, but Tataranuma Park is located in Oura Town.
In winter, swans fly over and many photographers come to take pictures.
The charm of Tataranuma
In the spring season, around the beginning of April, the promenade leading to Ukishima Benzaiten in the center of Tataranuma is colored with cherry blossoms, and around the end of the month, the wisteria trellis is in full bloom, making it a delight for many people.
There is also a vast lawn area within the park, which is a perfect place to relax and is used by families and people who want to exercise.
Festivals are held in the park every season to entertain visitors.
In winter, swans fly in and spend the winter here, making it a great place for photographers.
