Inside the limestone cave, you can see stalactites of various shapes and colors. Route to Abukuma Cave

The starting point was Nihonbashi in central Tokyo.

I took Shuto Expressway No. 6 from Hakozaki Minatobashi Street and headed towards Tohoku. Along the way, you will pass through the City Loop Line and Route 4, and then enter the Joban Expressway.

I drove from south to north on the Joban Expressway and transferred to the Ban’etsu Expressway at Iwaki JCT.

I drove west on the Banetsu Expressway and got off at Ono IC. From there, we took National Route 349 and Prefectural Routes 36 and 19 to reach Abukuma Cave.

This touring took about 3 and a half hours of riding.

The expressway was empty and I was able to drive comfortably, but of course I had to pay a certain amount of toll. There were no tolls on national and prefectural roads, but there were many curves and it was dangerous. Abukuma Cave is the largest limestone cave in Japan, surrounded by mountains, and the scenery was beautiful.

If you’re touring on a Harley, this is a recommended course.
